How to distinguish computer embroidery and hand embroidery?

Embroidery is divided into manual embroidery and machine embroidery. After the industrial revolution in western countries, machines replaced manpower and became the mainstream. Embroidery daily necessities that traditionally use manpower, such as bedspreads, sheets, pillowcases, clothing, etc., can be replaced by machine embroidery. After China became the world's factory, embroidery machinery was also introduced into China, and gradually reached the highest international level. Seeing that embroidery crafts were lucrative, smart Chinese improved embroidery machinery and software to make intricate patterns. Thus, the world's unique machine embroidery handicrafts were born. So how to distinguish hand embroidery and computer embroidery embroidery? What is the difference between these two embroidery?





Distinguish computer embroidery and hand embroidery method:
One, look at the light. The embroidery thread originally used in machine embroidery is made of chemical fiber, and the two strands of thread are often braided together like thin hemp rope. Such machine embroidery is easy to distinguish. Later, machine embroidery improved the embroidery thread, using chemical fiber to add a small amount of silk blended embroidery thread, and changed it to a single strand, which is very close to pure silk thread. Regrettably, although the machine embroidery produced in this way is very similar to hand embroidery, the embroidery surface has a layer of lustrous light, which is very different from the luster of silk. Anyone who is familiar with silk will know it at a glance. Fortunately, machine embroidery cannot completely use pure mulberry silk embroidery thread. Because the needle of the embroidery machine moves very frequently, if pure silk thread is used, it will definitely pilling. Moreover, the strength of pure silk thread is not enough, and it is easy to break.


Second, look at the color configuration. The color options of machine embroidery are limited, and the transition between color blocks is relatively rigid. It can be seen from a distance but not played up close. The hand embroidery is rich in color, and there are many layers of transitional intermediate colors. The picture is delicate and vivid, and the atmosphere is smooth.


Third, look at the split line. Manual embroidery needs to split the embroidery thread into 16 parts and 32 parts according to the needs of modeling and craftsmanship, up to 64 parts. Then use a few of them to make the embroidery. Therefore, in hand-embroidered works, the thickness of the embroidery thread is full of changes. Generally, there are always 2 or 3 different thickness lines, or as many as ten different thickness lines. Machine embroidery was originally not able to split the thread. Later, it was improved and started to use different thickness lines to make different areas. However, the choice of thread thickness for machine embroidery is limited, and it seems that there are generally only two types. Maybe in the future, machine embroidery will use more thickness options, but it is still difficult to achieve the level of hand embroidery.


Fourth, look at the modeling details. Machine embroidery cannot handle details such as edges and tips of shapes. For flowers and birds in the style of fine brushwork, hand embroidery can use appropriate stitches to embroider the petals very evenly, cleanly and exquisitely. The edge and tip of the petals made by machine embroidery are fuzzy, chaotic and jagged. The same is true for other details such as the sharp beak of the bird, the texture of the feathers, the back of the leaves, etc. Now, machine embroidery has made significant improvements in these details, but it is still incomparable to hand embroidery.
